VARLEY NEWS

Varley receives the HMA Hall of Fame Award 2025

We’re incredibly proud to share that Varley Group has been inducted into the Hunter Manufacturing Awards – Hall of Fame at  HMA’s Gala Event held Thursday 30th October 2025.

This incredible recognition celebrates nearly 140 years of engineering innovation and the lasting contribution Varley has made to the Hunter region and beyond – from creating skilled local jobs to delivering specialised vehicles and infrastructure that strengthen communities across Australia.

Every week, Varley teams design and build emergency service and community support vehicles – including fire trucks, SES rescue vehicles, health clinics, and mobile libraries that help protect, connect, and care for people in our cities, regional towns, and remote communities alike.

Alongside this, our Carrington Services division continues to support essential industries that keep Australia running – maintaining power stations, freight rail wagons, and providing port and marine services.

Our Managing Director and Chairman, Jeff Phillips, shared …

“Being named in the Hall of Fame is an incredible honour and a proud moment for everyone who’s been part of Varley’s story.

Our success has always come back to our people – their passion, skill and commitment to doing great work. That spirit is reflected in the vehicles and infrastructure we build every day to serve the community – from fire trucks responding to emergencies and mobile health units bringing care to rural Australians, to our Services teams keeping the Hunter port, rail networks and power stations operating safely. This recognition belongs to them.

We’ve been here for nearly 140 years because we’ve built a culture that encourages initiative and innovative thinking, and one that gives emerging talent the opportunity to step up. We back our people, and we support the local communities in which we operate.

Looking ahead, our focus remains on strengthening Australia’s sovereign manufacturing capability – investing in our people, our IP, technology and processes to ensure we continue to meet the needs of the future.”

Our congratulations also go to Abbie Williams, our Group People Manager, and Braydan Linstrom, Master Scheduler for our Vehicles division, who were both recognised as finalists at this year’s awards. Their achievements reflect the enthusiasm and dedication of the people who make Varley a great place to work.

We thank the Hunter Manufacturing Awards for continuing to celebrate and shine a light on our region’s vibrant manufacturing ecosystem and to all Varley employees, past and present, who continue to carry the Varley legacy forward and, in doing so, strengthen communities like the Hunter across Australia.
