We’re proud to have seen CSIRO’s Mission Operations Centre (MOC), manufactured at our Brisbane facility, showcased at the International Astronautical Congress 2025 in Sydney (29 September – 3 October).
Developed as part of the iLAuNCH Trailblazer program within the Australian Government’s Trailblazer University initiative, the MOC exemplifies Australian engineering in support of sovereign space and research activities.
Housed in a B-Double trailer, the MOC is a rapidly deployable, integrated facility equipped with advanced computing, visualisation, and simulation technologies. This mobile command-and-control hub minimises reliance on permanent infrastructure, enabling flexible support for launch operations across regional Australia and adaptability as mission requirements change.
Beyond launch operations, the MOC will also serve as a mobile, high-tech classroom, supporting:
- STEM education and outreach
- Training and workforce development
Community engagement initiatives
Our General Manager of Varley Vehicles Brisbane, Stephen Moss, noted:
“We are honoured to work on CSIRO’s new mobile Mission Operations Centre. Manufactured at our Brisbane facility by our expert team of engineers and tradespeople, this state-of-the-art centre represents the strength of Australia’s innovation and engineering. The MOC is set to expand mission and research capacities across Australia and reinforce the nation’s sovereign space capabilities. This initiative also underscores the value of collaboration among government, research organisations, and local industry, highlighting how locally designed and produced solutions can fulfil the needs of Australia’s contemporary aerospace sector”
A special thank you to CSIRO and our highly skilled Brisbane workforce whose expertise and dedication made this project possible.
